A Secret History of  Sinister “Medical” Experiments Conducted by the U.S. Government (Part 1)

Just in case anyone thinks our government has only recently lost its way, here's a revealing timeline of some of the more nefarious experiments it has sanctioned against its citizens, all in the name of “the greater good.” All of the information that follows can be found online by anyone who chooses to make the effort. Next issue, I will include a list of books that also confirm that these horrendous and criminal events actually happened. The fact that they did should be all the caution we need to never take our government officials at their word. Always seeks confirmation of what they say.

1931:  Dr. Cornelius Rhoads, under the auspices of the Rockefeller Institute for

Medical Investigations, infects human subjects with cancer cells. He later goes on to establish the U.S. Army Biological Warfare facilities in Maryland, Utah, and Panama, and is named to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. While there, he begins a series of radiation exposure experiments on American soldiers and civilian hospital patients.

1932:  The Tuskegee Syphilis Study begins. 200 black men diagnosed with syphilis are never told of their illness, are denied treatment, and instead are used as human guinea pigs in order to follow the progression and symptoms of the disease. They all subsequently die from syphilis, their families never told that they could have been treated.

1935:  The Pellagra Incident. After millions of individuals die from Pellagra over a span of two decades, the U.S. Public Health Service finally acts to stem the disease. The director of the agency admits it had known for at least 20 years that Pellagra is caused by a niacin deficiency but failed to act since most of the deaths occurred within poverty-stricken black populations.

1940:  Four hundred prisoners in Chicago are infected with malaria in order to study the effects of new and experimental drugs to combat the disease. Nazi doctors later on trial at Nuremberg cite this American study to defend their own actions during the Holocaust.

1942:  Chemical Warfare Services begins mustard gas experiments on approximately 4,000 servicemen. The experiments continue until 1945 and made use of Seventh Day Adventists who chose to become human guinea pigs rather than serve on active duty.

1943: In response to Japan's full-scale germ warfare program, the U.S. begins research on biological weapons at Fort Detrick, MD.

1944: U.S. Navy uses human subjects to test gas masks and clothing. Individuals were locked in a gas chamber and exposed to mustard gas and lewisite.

1945:  Project Paperclip is initiated. The U.S. State Department, Army intelligence, and the CIA recruit Nazi scientists and offer them immunity and secret identities in exchange for work on top secret government projects in the United States.

1945:  "Program F" is implemented by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). This is the most extensive U.S. study of the health effects of fluoride, which was the key chemical component in atomic bomb production. One of the most toxic chemicals known to man, fluoride, it is found, causes marked adverse effects to the central nervous system, but much of the information is squelched in the name of national security because of fear that lawsuits would undermine full-scale production of atomic bombs.

1946:  Patients in VA hospitals are used as guinea pigs for medical experiments. In order to allay suspicions, the order is given to change the word "experiments" to “investigations" or "observations" whenever reporting a medical study performed in one of the nation's veteran's hospitals.

1947:  Colonel E.E. Kirkpatrick of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission issues a secret document (Document 07075001, January 8, 1947) stating that the agency will begin administering intravenous doses of radioactive substances to human subjects.

1947:  The CIA begins its study of LSD as a potential weapon for use by American intelligence. Human subjects (both civilian and military) are used with and without their knowledge.

1950:  Department of Defense begins plans to detonate nuclear weapons in desert areas and monitor downwind residents for medical problems and mortality rates.

1950: In an experiment to determine how susceptible an American city would be to biological attack, the U.S. Navy sprays a cloud of bacteria from ships over San Franciso. Monitoring devices are situated throughout the city in order to test the extent of infection. Many residents become ill with pneumonia-like symptoms.

1951:  Department of Defense begins open-air tests using disease-producing bacteria and viruses. Tests last through 1969 and there is concern that people in the surrounding areas have been exposed.

1953:  U.S. military releases clouds of zinc cadmium sulfide gas over Winnipeg, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Fort Wayne, the Monocacy River Valley in Maryland, and Leesburg, Virginia. Their intent is to determine how efficiently they could disperse chemical agents.

1953:  Joint Army-Navy-CIA experiments are conducted in which tens of thousands of people in New York and San Francisco are exposed to the airborne germs Serratia marcescens and Bacillus glogigii.

1953:  CIA initiates Project MKULTRA. This is an eleven-year research program designed to produce and test drugs and biological agents that would be used for mind control and behavior modification. Six of the subprojects involved testing the agents on unwitting human beings.

1955:  The CIA, in an experiment to test its ability to infect human populations with biological agents, releases a bacteria withdrawn from the Army's biological warfare arsenal over Tampa Bay, Fl.

1955:  Army Chemical Corps continues LSD research, studying its potential use as a chemical incapacitating agent. More than 1,000 Americans participate in the tests, which continue until 1958.

1956:  U.S. military releases mosquitoes infected with Yellow Fever over Savannah, Ga and Avon Park, Fl. Following each test, Army agents posing as public health officials test victims for effects.

1958:  LSD is tested on 95 volunteers at the Army's Chemical Warfare Laboratories for its effect on intelligence.

1960:  The Army Assistant Chief-of-Staff for Intelligence (ACSI) authorizes field-testing of LSD in Europe and the Far East. Testing of the European population is code-named Project Third Chance; testing of the Asian population is code named Project Derby Hat.

Self-Care Tips for Dealing With Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a respiratory condition that is characterized by inflammation of the bronchial airways.

Caution: Left untreated, bronchitis can result in the development of pneumonia, a potentially fatal health condition. If you develop symptoms of chronic bronchitis, seek immediate medical attention.

Types of Bronchitis

There are two types of bronchitis—acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is characterized by deep, dry, or wet cough that tends to resolve within one to two weeks. Acute bronchitis usually results from a cold, flu, or, in some cases, sinusitis, although it can also develop due to exposure to bacterial or viral infection.

Chronic bronchitis typically occurs without exposure to infectious agents, and can often develop as a progression of acute bronchitis. It can linger for months and/or recur on a regular basis. In addition to coughing, chronic bronchitis can also be accompanied by wheezing and/or sensations of breathlessness.

Symptoms of Bronchitis

Both acute and chronic bronchitis symptoms include deep, dry, or wet cough and inflammation of the bronchial airways. Other symptoms can include chills, fever, excessive production of mucus, and the frequent need to expectorate phlegm and sputum. Both forms of bronchitis can also result in diminished immune function, leading to greater susceptibility to other conditions, including infections and pneumonia.

Causes of Bronchitis

Acute bronchitis is usually caused by bacterial or viral infections, food allergies, environmental allergies, and environmental toxins. It can also be caused by exposure to cold. Chronic bronchitis can be caused by all of the above factors, as well as smoking and regular exposure to secondhand smoke. Both forms of bronchitis can also result from cold, flu, or sinusitis.

Self-Care Strategies

Aromatherapy:
Inhaling the steamed vapors of the essential oils bergamot, camphor, eucalyptus, lavender, pine, and sandalwood can help to relieve bronchitis symptoms. Bergamot, sandalwood, and thyme are also useful for relieving excess mucus production.

Ayurveda:Ayurvedic physicians commonly recommend a mixture of the herbs sitopaladi, punarnava, trikatu, and mahasudarshan for bronchitis symptoms.

Diet: If you suffer from bronchitis, you need to be screened for food allergies and sensitivities, and then avoid eating those foods that they are allergic or sensitive to. In addition, avoid all sugar and sugar products, starches, wheat and wheat byproducts, soft drinks, commercially processed and/or fried foods, and all foods containing artificial ingredients, such as additives, colorings, flavorings, and preservatives. Also minimize your intake of eggs, milk and dairy products, and coffee and other caffeine products. Bananas should be avoided, as well, because they encourage mucus production.

During the onset of symptoms, eat hot, spicy organic foods, such as chili peppers, garlic, and onions, in order to open the air passages and encourage the elimination of mucus. Spices such as mustard and horseradish can also be helpful for this purpose.

Emphasize organic, whole foods, especially plenty of fresh, raw organic fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, organic, free-range meats and poultry, and wild-caught fish. Garlic and onions should be staples in your meals, due to their powerful health benefits for the lungs and overall respiratory system. Also be sure to drink plenty or pure, fresh water each day (at least eight ounces every two hours). Organic, extra virgin olive oil should also be used liberally. Homemade soups, such as chicken, vegetable, and barley, should also be consumed in order to help thin mucus.

According to leading naturopathic physician and researcher Joseph E. Pizzorno, N.D., President Emeritus of Bastyr University, a vegan diet can significantly improve symptoms of most respiratory conditions, including bronchitis. Such a diet involves eliminating all animal products, as well as fish, eggs, milk, and all other dairy products. Grains should also be avoided, or eaten in minimal amounts. Dr. Pizzorno also advises limiting your fluid intake to pure, filtered water (avoid chlorinated, fluoridated tap water), and emphasizing plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, especially romaine lettuce, carrots, beets, onions, celery, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, radishes, Jerusalem artichokes, beans (except soy and green peas), blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cloudberries, black currants, gooseberries, plums, and pears. Apples and citrus fruits are not recommended, however. Dr. Pizzorno reports that over 90 percent of all people who follow a vegan diet for one year experience notable improvements in their health.

General Self-Care Measures: Avoid cough suppressants, which prevent mucus from being cleared from the lungs. Coughing should be encouraged in order to clear mucus. Spending a few minutes periodically throughout the day to practice deep breathing can also be helpful.

Herbs: Useful herbs for treating bronchitis include anise, astragalus, cherry bark, coltsfoot, Echinacea, elecampane, garlic, ginseng, goldenseal, grindelia, horehound, licorice root, lobelia, marshmallow root, mullein, peppermint, pleurisy root, and pokeroot. For best results, take as teas or tinctures.

Homeopathy:Useful homeopathic remedies for bronchitis include Aconite, Arsen alb., Bryonia, Calc. sulph., Ferr phos., Lymphomyosot, Phosphorus, and Sulfur.

Hydrotherapy: Cold friction rubs applied every 48 hours can help to hasten recovery, as can treading cold water for five to ten minutes each day, which helps strengthen the immune system. Soaking in a hot bath for 3o to 60 minutes can also be helpful.

Improving Indoor Air Quality: Improving the quality of your indoor air, both at home and at work, is an essential self-care step for helping to treat and prevent respiratory conditions, including bronchitis. Healthy air is warm, free of pollutants and odors, has a relative humidity of between 35 to 60 percent), and is high in oxygen and negative ions (3,000 to 6,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter). Today’s technology makes it easy to ensure that your indoor air meets the above criteria. A negative ion generator can not only increase the oxygen and negative ion content of indoor air, but can also cleanse it of harmful animal dander, bacteria, dust, mold, pollen, and viruses. Moreover, negative ions help to soothe and repair damaged mucosa of the nasals, lungs, and bronchial pathways. For best results, choose a self-regulating negative ion generator that emits at least one trillion negative ions per second.

You should also use a humidifier to keep your indoor air moist, especially during winter months, when air tends to be drier. Choose a warm mist unit. Adding plants to your home and work environments can also help keep air moist. Certain plants, such as chrysanthemums, philodendron, and spider plants, can also help to keep your air free of circulating dust and microorganisms, since they act as natural air filters.

Also be sure that your home and work environments are properly ventilated, and avoid the use of synthetic materials in your home and workplace, including plastics.

Juice Therapy: Helpful juice combinations for relieving bronchitis symptoms are carrot and radish juice; carrot, beet, and cucumber; carrot and spinach; carrot and celery; and carrot, beet, and cucumber. Wheatgrass juice can also be useful.

Nutritional Supplements: Useful supplements for preventing and reversing bronchitis include vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, selenium, and zinc. Bromelain, colloidal silver, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), thymus gland extract, and proteolytic enzymes taken away from meals are also recommended.

Books:
State of Fear by Michael Crichton.
As a novel, the plot and its resolution are ludicrous. But that’s not why I so thoroughly enjoy reading Crichton, who I’ve been a fan of ever since my first year in high school, when I read The Andromeda Strain. Crichton does a masterful job of researching all aspects of the topics his novels explore, and in this book his doing so makes an arresting case that everything we are hearing these days about the dire threat of global warming is wrong. In this book, Crichton backs up everything he says with extensive footnotes, as well as charts and other data throughout the novel. He also provides an extensive source of references for further review, as well as two other informative appendices. Despite his reputation as a sterling researcher, Chricton has been mercilessly attacked and slandered since State of Fear was first published. Quite unfairly, as it turns out, since he happens to be right. (I’ll be addressing my own research into global warming and how the debate has been hijacked by so-called environmental supporters who in actuality are acting like fascists with no regard for science in future issues of this newsletter.)

Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman. A fine collection of short stories, poems, and one novella by one of my favorite fabulists.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John Le Carre. One of the earlier spy novels by another of my favorite authors. A brilliant book.
