Mind-Cell Memory in Disease by Valerie Hunt
Here mind is considered as the field of organized energy which carries information of an organism’s past experiences in this and prior lives. Cells have to do with organized protoplasm that has biologically determined functions programmed by the DNA, RNA and by basic neural and spinal circuitry.
This means the unique and composite functions of organs and systems have primary levels of instructions and control that is predictable, allowing easily understood patterns of behavior in living human organisms. These are the basic computer hardware and software. Immediate sometimes small, sometimes large changes occur in these standard controls caused by human experiences. These too are comprehensible. This paper is concerned with memory of past experiences. These memories, if recent or of this life, are held in brain and cell because both participated in the experience. The more tragic and emotional the experience, the more profound and direct the memory information. Also with profound emotions, acute tissue pain and feelings, we block the memory –cover it up. After local cells have apparently healed we act as though the experience and trauma never happened. It is this mind-cell memory which keeps the cells active while blocking the elaborate memory of the complete experience. Such mind-cell memory continues hyperactivity of cells, or a long-term inflammation, overgrowth of scar tissue, misalignment, and an imperfect healing.
With intense experiences the mind-cellular memory continues on a chronic subliminal level, but unfortunately if another experience occurs, similar but perhaps not identical, which carries its own trauma, it also reactivates that of the mind-cell memory of the earlier emotion. Now there is a double whammy. Again you and your health counselor treat the local or organ systems involved without realizing that the memory of old and similar experiences restricts and lengthens healing time, and makes for imperfect repair. The whole process is ultimately governed by the mind-cell memory of each incident and similar stored memories of the complete experience.
There are numerous people who share this idea. Their treatment is to remember the situation, intellectually, but without emotion. They think with that information they can remove the memory and clear the persistent problem. They talk about it but are never successful because they block emotions—the significant part of the memory. I believe the cure is never complete until one brings to conscious awareness the prior emotional memory: until one emotionally relives the experience, feels the tissue pain and distortion. One must look at why these feelings were buried, and what other behaviors and experiences were connected that caused them to be repressed. Recognize that the body-mind-cells know how to heal perfectly –to regrow tissue, eliminate nonfunctional cells and regenerate itself.
Acute physical battering with tissue compression and comas can occur during major auto accidents, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and fires. Such gross bodily shocks upset vital controls, disorganize all major systems with metabolic instability and spontaneous bleeding. Secondary trauma of shattered teeth, joint subluxations, fractures, muscle tears and lacerations are inevitable. Hospital trauma physicians are trained to treat the initial entire system shock. Long-term therapy of neuromuscular trauma may be essential. Because of the extent and suddenness of the accident emotional overloads are always repressed. Here the mind cell memory continues mis-instructing the body, inhibiting healing.
Such emotional memory must be brought to conscious awareness and eradicated for complete recovery. This may be very difficult for average conscious individuals. Help is available from professional therapists who assist in opening the mind field, and cranio-sacral therapists who stabilize the person’s field.
I suggest that each of us now personally survey our health problems or quirks that we are consistently treating or things we remember we must be careful not to overstress, such as hypertension, stomach and gut malfunction, joint and neuromuscular weaknesses, skin disorders and known allergies. Aren’t you tired of these, have you come to the conclusion this is not “normal” and you don’t want them anymore? We all know there are acceptable answers for flair ups of our conditions, e.g. too much sugar flairs up, candida, over stress that may hyper activate the cardiovascular system, physical work that aggravates old injuries, systemic bacteria and parasites that create long term diarrhea. Most of us are educated about what activates our systemic problems and if we have control over our lifestyle we can have better health with fewer symptoms.
So I raise a new question: do you want to get rid of the mind-cell memory which is the “toxic” “poisonous” source of our weaknesses and susceptibilities, to a complete cure with vibrant health rather than “stop gap” health? If you believe deeply what I have said, you can do it. It does require stillness of the brain and contact with the mind-cells where the memory lies. Many people today are meditators, which is a good start. The techniques of meditation with mantras and step procedures will give you some peace and freedom from pain, as these take you to higher consciousness where temporarily you feel peace. But the high peaceful consciousness does not remove the problem.
This is how you remove mind-cell memory. Generally it is easier when the problem is exaggerated enough to get your attention; it has recurred, or is painful.
Focus your mind on experiencingthe cellular aggravation and the emotional frustration you are experiencing now. Pay attention to what crosses your mind even if it seems unrelated to now.
Ask yourself if you have ever had those symptoms, pain, or conditions before. Don’t do an intellectual time survey but rather a whole experience – one where situations, places, feelings existed. Now you are grasping the mind-cell memory.
Let this memory become as elaborate as it was.
Ask if there were other similar experiences which have fortified that cell memory. Sometimes the memory is highly specific as to areas of body, systems etc. Many times it is genera,l like inflammation or functionally—it worsens at night or at times of the year.
Don’t try to use a logical-linear approach with a formula; it won’t work.
Over time accumulate information on a conscious level until the picture is clear. When the associated emotions are patterned and you are willing to experience all the memories you no longer need the trauma.
You will be amazed of what can happen if you give up the idea that “this” is me, who I am, biologically or genetically. Accept that this is what I experienced. The mind-cell has both the information and the answer correctly, beyond what you or your doctor know.
It is not easy but exponentially rewarding. You can do it! I have with numerous major dysfunctions of my own and others.

Classical Homeopathy: An Interview with Kathleen K. Fry, M.D.
[There was a time when, like most Americans, I knew next to nothing about homeopathy. That all changed in the mid 1980s when, while living in Manhattan, I developed a kidney stone and briefly wound up in the hospital, hooked up to an I.V. The pain was excruciating and once it subsided, X-rays showed that the stone was still lodged in my urethra. I was sent home and instructed to drink lots of water. I did so, but weeks later I experienced another intense flare-up of pain that sent me looking for alternative answers to my condition. A friend pointed me in the direction of an homeopathic practitioner deep in the heart of Brooklyn. I had no idea what homeopathy was at the time, but I was desperate, so I took the long subway ride to see the man, who was visiting from his native Trinidad. Within a few minutes of meeting him, I felt I’d wasted my time. The man asked me a long litany of queries that to me had nothing to do with why I had visited him. An hour passed before he finally said he had the information he needed to provide me with the remedy I required. He handed me a small vial of tablets and told me to place four of them under my tongue every five minutes for the next hour, and then two more each hour for the rest of the day. “After tonight, you can stop taking the remedy because tomorrow you will pass the stone and be good as new,” he told me confidently. I proceeded home, convinced he was well-meaning yet deluded about his abilities as a practitioner, but I figured I might as well do as he’d instructed. So I did. Nothing happened for the rest of the day, nor did I notice any improvement when I awoke the next morning. But late that afternoon I had a strong urge to pee and when I did, out gushed my kidney stone. Moreover, as it did so, I felt a very palpable rebalancing of energy throughout my body. Just as the man had said, I felt “good as new.” This experience was pivotal for me, causing me to more seriously investigate holistic healing approaches.
What follows is the first part of a an interview about what homeopathy is and how and why it works that I conducted years ago with Dr. Kathleen Fry, past-president of the American Holistic Medical Association, a leading expert in women’s health issues, and a very skillful homeopathic physician.]
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic practice of medicine that works by stimulating the body's inherent ability to heal itself. It comes from the Greek words "homoios," meaning “similar," and "pathos," meaning "suffering," and was developed at the end of the 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. This was before the microscope and before the concept of microbes causing disease. At the time, the theory was that basically all illness arose from an imbalance in what were known as the four humors. When people got sick, the belief was that one of the humors was out of balance. Physicians attempted to restore the balance by bloodletting and using leeches, followed with purgatives and cathartics like arsenic and mercury, which caused violent diarrhea and salivation. Hahnemann was appalled by these practices and came to believe that the cure was worse than the disease itself. In disgust, he gave up his practice. He had a wife and seven children to support, so he turned to translating into German the ancient Greek and Latin texts of the great medical practitioners, such as Hippocrates and Paracelsus. As he did so, he realized that other disciplines, other sciences, like physics, for example, have strict universal laws that govern them and never change. But with medical practice, the laws of medicine seem to change with the wind. And we still notice that today. We think we're making progress and that things are new and improved, but what Hahnemann saw was that the foundation for medical treatment was not founded on any firm principles. So he set out to determine what those principles were. He did this primarily by experimenting on people and studying and reading everything he could find about the theory of medical practice and the basis of medical treatment. During this time, someone brought some cinchona bark from Peru and told Hahnemann that the Peruvians used this substance to cure malaria. Hahnemann was very curious about his and decided to find out exactly why the substance worked. So he took cinchona in small amounts and what do you think happened?
He developed malaria.
Right. He developed all the symptoms of malaria. So he thought, how can this be? To find out, he started doing what we call provings on all kinds of substances, and in the process of doing so, what he found was the symptom signature of many diseases of the time. By doing provings on himself, his family, and his colleagues, he was responsible for proving over a hundred remedies. He did this by meticulously writing down every single symptom that he had in the process of taking each substance. This included what type of dreams he had, when he got thirsty, when he had a fever, when he had chills, and so on. Then he would catalog these symptom pictures so when someone came to him who had these particular symptoms he could match them to the symptom picture that showed up when he did the proving for mercury or arsenic, for example. We now have over 2500 remedies that we use in our materia medica, based on Hahnemann's original provings.
Today, we have certain diseases like Raynaud's phenomenon where people exposed to cold have their hands turn blue and they have joint pain, such as scleroderma, for example. And we have a name for it. You know, we say, this is Raynuad's or this is scleroderma. But to a homeopath, those are all the symptoms that show up in the proving of arsenic. But you can't go ahead and give someone arsenic or mercury, obviously. So what Hahnemann did was figure out how to give these substances to people in such a way that the healing property of the substance was released without harming the patient with side effects. What he came up with was the idea of diluting out these remedies. For example, if he wanted to use arsenic in order to treat someone with the same disease symptoms as those that had shown up in the arsenic proving, he would take a small amount of arsenic and dilute it in a hundred drops of alcohol and then shake it a hundred times. Actually, he whacked it a hundred times on the family Bible, and that was a 1C dilution. Then he would take one drop of that 1C solution and put it in 100 drops of alcohol, and shake, or succuss, that a hundred times, and so on. What he found was that the more times he diluted the remedy and the more times he succussed it, the more potent the remedy was. A remedy that has been diluted 200 times is much more potent than one which has been diluted three times, for example.
Is there an explanation for how that works? As the remedy continues to be diluted the amount of the original substance becomes less and less, correct?
Correct. The explanation lies in the fact that everything in nature has two components, an energetic component and a material component. As you dilute the remedy you lessen its material component, but by the combination of dilution and succession, you then strengthen the energetic component. We think that what happens is that something on an energetic level gets imprinted on the alcohol or the water we use as a dilution. It probably works at the level of quantum physics, of quantum mechanics, and we don't yet have any instruments that are sensitive enough to measure it, yet we see that it works in clincial practice. When you match a patient with the right remedy it's like finding the right key for a lock. To see people who are cured of chronic diseases they've had for years and years is the most remarkable and rewarding thing.
When you go to an allopathic or conventional physician, you basically say I feel this in my body and the doctor then attempts to treat your physical symptom. But in order to deduce the symptom picture as you've described it, a homeopathic physician has to explore quite a bit of the actual personality of the patient, including mental and emotional aspects. Is that correct?
Exactly. Because, on an energetic level, human beings are like tuning forks, and we each vibrate in a different key. And within that energetic state that you vibrate in you have a spectrum of health and disease. So, if you're a healthy C major type tuning fork, your signal is strong and vibrant and carries a long way. But if you're weak, your vital force, as we call it, is not going to give off much of a signal. Homeopathy looks at where you are on the spectrum of health and disease, because what you want to figure out is the remedy state that the patient basically vibrates in. So we look at the whole picture. Who are the patients as people; energetically, where are they at? What kinds of foods do they like, what are their sleep patterns like, what type of personality do they have? Are they sloppy or are they fastidious?
I grew up in a family of five children. We have the same parents, we went to the same schools, we ate the same food every day, and we even wore the same clothes because we went to Catholic school and wore uniforms. But we were five different and unique individuals, and when we got sick, we did so in various ways. Homeopathy explains that because the five of us are in different energy states, and therefore we have different remedy states, as well. So when I sit down a take somebody's case, I'm looking at not only what symptoms they have, but who they basically are when they're in a healthy state. Actually, that's one of the profounder aspects of homeopathy. Not only to be able to treat illness and make symptoms go away, but to take somebody who is still in a fairly healthy state and put them on a remedy that boosts their vital force and prevents them from getting ill. I've been under homeopathic care for five years myself and I'm never sick. I can't tell you the last time I took a Tylenol or something like that.
What does a homeopathic consultation entail?
I schedule two hours with my patient for a first consultation. That's the typical range, an hour and a half to two hours. Now the teacher I study with, who happens to be a genius, figures out a patient's remedy in the first 15 minutes, but that's because he's been doing it for a long time.
Basically, I let my patients talk, because I find that the disease, as it has to come out, will manifest in a certain way. So we pay attention to what they say, how they say it, the things they talk about, and so on. Some people will talk for two straight hours and you never have to ask a question. In homeopathy, we call that loquacious, so you know you're looking for a loquacious remedy. Other people sit there and barely say a word; it's like pulling teeth to get anything out of them. These are the people who tend to be closed and private and they don't want to share much, so obviously they have a different remedy state.
I also pay attention to how my patients conduct themselves in the interview, and also, funnily enough, what kind of clothing they wear. People who benefit from what we call the snake remedies, for example, tend to be pretty flashy in the clothes they wear, whereas people who need remedies that come from plants tend to have a softer side to them. And people who need remedies derived from minerals tend to be straightforward and have kind of a hard edge to them, depending on their remedy. Then we look at what foods they like, what foods aggravate them, and I talk with them about their sleep and their dreams. Dreams can be very important for determining remedies for people.
As you're having to consider all of these various factors, it sounds like finding the right remedy can be a matter of trial and error.
You know, most of it is. With homeopathy there's not a lab test that tells you what your patients need. Basically you give them the remedy and watch the body to see what it does. For example, I have a patient who I'm treating who's a brutal diabetic and for about two years neither I nor any of the homeopaths I consulted with could determine the remedy for her, but then one day I took her to see my teacher and on the way to see him, I realized what she needed. And sure enough, without my telling him, he confirmed it. So now she's taking the remedy.
When I next saw her, there was no change in her blood sugar levels. Actually, they got a little bit worse. But when I looked at her, I could see a definite shift in her energy. She's more animated. Then she developed an abscess on her thigh. Now you have to be really careful when diabetics develop an abscess like this. Their blood sugars can be out of whack, they can develop gangrene, and so on. But in my patient's case, this is the first symptom she's ever had of all the remedies I've given her. This shows me that her body has, in a sense, developed an outlet for this disease she has. Not only does she suffer from diabetes, she also has severe depression. But now her mood is lightening up and she has a lighter way of being, yet she has this abscess on her thigh. If I give her antibiotics and suppress the abscess, what's going to happen is that her depression is going to get worse. Again, as homeopaths, we look at the whole person and all of their symptoms. When she developed her abscess, I felt grateful, because I see the abscess as an outlet for her disease. It doesn't even make sense to talk about it using a western vocabulary, but I think of her condition as a pressure cooker. If you have a pressure cooker with a steam valve, the steam has to come out in order to keep the pot from exploding. If you keep the valve from being opened, then the pot is going to explode. In a sense, that's how it is with us when we get disease in our system. So, in this woman's case, when I saw the abscess, I went up on her remedy and I didn't give her an antibiotic, and I won't, because I know if I do I'm going to make her sicker. Instead, I'm keeping a close eye on her, and when I spoke with her yesterday, she said the abscess is much less painful.
In other words, metaphorically, this woman's abscess is the steam valve her body is using to release her disease.
Yes. All symptoms are like that. Consider children born with eczema. They have this skin rash and they go to the doctor and he puts them on steroids. The eczema fades away, but then they develop asthma. You see, the skin is a relatively innocuous organ. If you get a rash, you itch and it's unsightly, but it's not like your heart stops. The way homeopaths think of it is there's some kind of imbalance that the body has produced a symptom in response to in order to maintain balance. When somebody develops a rash, and it could come from anything that sets them out of balance - bad food, a severe stress reaction, depression -- the rash is basically the body's way of trying to compartmentalize it.
As another example of how this works, consider a tax accountant during tax season. He's working like a dog, up late and living on coffee and donuts instead of resting and getting some sleep. This depletes his vital force and the body, instead of shutting down completely, develops a sore throat. If the accountant is paying attention, he'll realize he needs to get some rest, to eat better, and so on, and the body within that context can probably let go of the sore throat. But in our society, what do we do? We go to the doctor and he swabs our throat and tells us we have strep. We've probably always had strep in our throat, but he gives us an antibiotic and we take it. Now, not only have we deprived the body of an outlet for the disease known as overwork, bad food and no sleep, we've also added a foreign substance in our body that the body has to deal with. So the accountant continues to work, his sore throat goes away, but his stress level increases and now he develops bronchitis. The doctor gives him a stronger antibiotic and now he's got the effect of the first antibiotic, the effect of the second antibiotic, and the continued burden of his overwork and so forth. Then something else happens to add to his stress level -- he learns his 16 year-old daughter is pregnant, for instance -- and his vital force is depleted even more, resulting in him coming down with pneumonia. And the reason he develops pneumonia is that he's no longer well enough to have a sore throat. A sore throat is a small symptom. But because of all those things that have depleted his vital force, his body has to come up with a bigger symptom picture to, in a sense, match the strength of the things that caused the disease in the first place.
Do you see what I'm saying? This is how homeopaths think. When I see women in my office in their 60s who are on seven pills they have to take four times a day, in my view I see that their health has deteriorated over time to the point that they have to take more and more medication just to suppress their symptoms. Getting back to my diabetic patient, she's been a brutal diabetic since she was a child. Basically she has no pancreas so she's always going to be on insulin. But in cases of adult onset diabetes, over time, if you get them early enough, you can strengthen the vital force enough to remove those symptoms. What I see happen over time with people who are successfully treated homeopathically is that their symptoms go away, they get off their medicine, and they're restored to health.

Self-Care Tips for Dealing With Urinary Problems
Urinary problems can vary widely, and can occur anywhere along the entire urinary tract, including the kidneys.
Symptoms
Symptoms vary, ranging from urinary tract infections, excessive need to urinate, pain that radiates along the urinary tract, difficulty urinating, and urinary incontinence (see Bedwetting). Cloudy, pus-filled, and blood-filled urine are other possible symptoms.
Types
Various urinary problems can occur. They include nocturia, which is characterized by excessive urination during the night and can be an indication of early diabetes, kidney, heart, or liver disease. If not due to a serious disease, it is usually due to obstruction, such as (in men) an enlarged prostate gland.
Straining, changes in force of stream of the urine, and hesitancy are other types of urinary problems and usually indicate signs of bladder obstruction and are more common in middle-aged to older men.
Dysuria, which is characterized by pain or burning sensations during urination, usually indicates suggests inflammation or irritation of the bladder or the urethra and is usually due to an infection from bacteria.
Incontinence, which causes urination to occurwithout warning, often after sneezing, laughing, running, or coughing, is another common urinary problem.
Painful urination, which is characterized by pain anywhere in the urinary tract and which can also radiate to different areas of the body, such as the low back, chest, pubic bone, and the abdomen.
Causes
Urinary problems can be due to a variety of factors. The most common causes are bladder obstruction, benign prostate hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), bacterial infections within the urinary tract, stretching or aging of muscles of pelvic floor, injuries from childbirth, cysts or fibroids on the uterus that push down on the bladder, excess stress, allergies, and a delayed reaction to recent infections of the respiratory tract, the heart, or skin, and kidney disease. All of these factors must be screened for and treated before long-term relieve of urinary problems can be achieved.
Self-Care
Aromatherapy: For urinary tract infections, use sandalwood, bergamot, or juniper essential oils.
Diet: For urinary infections, organic cranberry juice can help inhibit bacteria from sticking to the lining cells of the bladder. For urinary incontinence, avoid all beverages containing caffeine, as it has been shown to cause the muscles around the bladder to contract and exert additional pressure. The following foods and additives can also irritate the bladder: coffee, non-herbal tea, artificial sweeteners, carbonated beverages, and tomato-based foods. Also screen for and eliminate all foods to which you are allergic. Otherwise, eat and organic, whole foods diet.
Herbs: An infusion of equal parts of bearberry, dandelion leaf, and nettle can be helpful for soothing irritations along the urinary tract. Drink hot three times a day or as needed. For blood in the urine, drink comfrey root tea. For difficult or burning urination, a mixture of fennel, horsetail, jasmine flowers, and licorice tea is helpful, while buchu, burdock, coriander, cornsilk, echinacea, goldenrod, juniper berries, marshmallow root, and shave grass teas are useful for relieving symptoms of urinary tract infections. Skullcap is recommended for urinary incontinence.
Homeopathy: Aconite, Apis mel., and Cantharis are useful homeopathic remedies for most types of urinary problems.
Hydrotherapy: A cold sitz bath once a day can strengthen the bladder.
Juice Therapy: Organic cranberry juice.
Lifestyle: To address incontinence, contract the bladder muscles 100-500 times throughout the day. This can greatly improve bladder control.
Nutritional Supplementation: Recommended nutrients include, vitamin B1, vitamin C, and a complete multivitamin/multimineral formula. Adding ½ teaspoon of baking soda to pure, filtered water can help alkalize the body, thereby alleviating urinary problems due to over-acidity in the body.
