New This Issue

Welcome to another issue of The Health Plus Letter. In this issue I’m promoting my latest book, The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide, which I co-wrote with noted nutritional and acid-alkaline expert, Dr. Susan Brown. You can find out more about it below, including why I believe it’s one of the most essential books I’ve contributed to, and learn about a special offer I am making available to everyone who purchases a copy online. I’m also providing self-care tips for dealing with psoriasis.

As always, please continue to send me your comments and suggestions. And please spread the word about The Health Plus Letter by passing it along to your friends and inviting them to subscribe.

The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide

I’m pleased to announce that my latest book, The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide, has just been published. In addition to being available at your local bookstore, you can also find it at Amazon.com,
www.bn.com (Barnes and Noble online), and various other online bookstores. As I mentioned above, I co-wrote this book with my friend Dr. Susan Brown, who is world-renowned as a clinical nutritionist and health researcher. For many years, Susan has been researching the significant role acid-alkaline imbalances (primarily overacidity) play in a wide range of chronic, degenerative diseases. At the suggestion of my publisher, Rudy Shur, I asked Susan to conduct laboratory tests to determine how hundreds of our most commonly eaten foods affect us once we eat them. Susan did this, building on existing studies that have been conducted in Germany and elsewhere. The end result is The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide, the first book of its kind to provide readers with a quick reference comprehensive list of charts that makes it extremely easy to see whether the foods we eat are alkalizing or acidifying once they are consumed.

Acid-alkaline values are measured according to pH. It’s not the inherent pH value of foods that is important’ it’s the effect the foods have on our bodies’ own internal pH once they are eaten. For example, fruits such as lemons have an inherently acidic pH, but once they are eaten, they create a healthy, alkalizing effect in the body. By knowing whether foods are alkalizing or acidifying when they are eaten, you can easily begin to create meals that will help to restore a healthy acid-alkaline balance in your body, something that is one of the most essential health care measures you can take to protect yourself from disease.

Holistic health care practitioners cite over-acidity as one of the most widespread underlying causes of disease in the United States and many other countries. The primary reason for this has to do with the fact that the majority of the foods most people eat each day create acidifying effects in their bodies. Chronic over-acidity, also known as acidosis, causes numerous disease processes. These include bone loss and reduced bone formation, which can result in brittle bones and osteoporosis; high blood pressure; chronic inflammation and associated pain, including from osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis; premature aging; impaired cell.ular function; impaired immune function; bladder and urinary tract problems; hormonal imbalances; muscle loss; increased build up of fr.ee radicals and fr.ee radical damage to the cells; kidney stones and other kidney disorders; liver toxicity and other liver problems; chronic fatigue and loss of energy; and gastrointestinal problems, to name just a few. People who are chronically acidic also have a much higher risk of developing candidiasis (systemic yeast overgrowth) and are far more susceptible to bacterial, fungal, and viral infections, all of which thrive when over-acidity is present, but have a hard time gaining a foothold in the body when its acid-alkaline state is in balance. Many alternative cancer practitioners also regard over-acidity to be a significant contributing factor to the onset and progression of cancer, since cancer cells can only thrive in the body when oxygen levels in the bloodstream are low. (Over-acidity depletes oxygen blood levels.)

For all of the above reasons, and many more, I highly recommend that you purchase a copy of The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide and put it to good use. He.re are some of the things you will learn and benefits you will receive from doing so:

A better understanding of what pH and acid-alkaline balance are, and why they are so important to your health.

A better understanding of the relationship between disease and over-acidity.

How to quickly and easily determine you body’s acid-alkaline state.

How to quickly determine the acidifying or alkalizing effects of hundred of the most common foods and beverages.

How to use the food charts contained in The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide to quickly and easily create healthy meals throughout the day.

What supplements you can use to speed your journey to vibrant health.

Special Offer: There is no question that I’m making a sa.les pitch by promoting The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide. I’m doing so with good reason, because I know from firsthand experience that eating primarily alkalizing meals throughout the day does indeed result in greater levels of health, energy, and overall well-being. Moreover, since The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide takes the guesswork out of preparing healthy meals due to Dr. Brown’s extensive scientific research, it’s n.o.w easier than ever to eat healthy.

The price of The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide has purposely been kept low (only $7.95) to encourage as wide an audience as possible to purchase and read it. But for all of my readers of The Health Plus Letter, I want to extend an even better offer. So I am going to ask all of you to purchase the book online, either at
www.amazon.com or www.bn.com (once you arrive at either site, simply type in the book’s title to be directed to it). By doing so, not only will you be able to obtain The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide at a discount, you will also receive from me for f.r.e.e any 5 eBooks offered at my website (for a full listing, visit www.1healthyworld.com/ebook). This equates to nearly $150 in fr.ee bonuses. To receive the eBooks of your choice, simply forward the email receipt you will receive from amazon.com or bn.com to me at larry@1healthyworld.com and I will immediately send you the eBooks you want. But you must act on this offer soon, because I will not be able to extend it for long. I hope you will take action immediately.

Self-Care Tips for Dealing With Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a fairly common, chronic skin condition in which patches of skin become thickened and reddened and covered with silvery scales. It usually does not itch, but does cause discomfort and cosmetic embarrassment. The areas of the body most commonly affected by psoriasis are the arms, elbows, behind the ears, scalp, back, legs, and knees.

What To Consider

Psoriasis is metabolic in nature and can be triggered by environmental or stressful conditions, poor diet, flu-like conditions, the administration of penicillin, and nutritional deficiencies. Patients with psoriasis are also a higher risk of rheumatoid diseases.

Psoriasis can also be caused by food allergies, essential fatty acid deficiencies, low digestive enzyme and hydrochloric acid levels, vitamin B complex deficiencies, emotional stress, illness, drugs (such as beta-blockers, lithium, and chloroquine), poison ivy or oak, skin damage, and several infections, bacterial or viral in origin.

Self-Care

Aromatherapy:
The following essential oils are recommended: bergamot (to help heal skin plaques), lavender (to reduce excessive itching), melissa (for irritated skin), jasmine (for dry sensitive skin), geranium (for dry irritating skin), and sandalwood mysore (for dehydrated, inflamed, and sensitive skin).

Diet: Screen for and eliminate all foods to which you are allergic or sensitive. Eat a varied diet of organic, whole foods, rotating foods as much as possible. Also eliminate wheat and wheat products for 1-3 months. Also consume seafood high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, and each day, on a rotating basis, take one tablespoon of olive or flaxseed oil, and be sure to drink plenty of pure, filtered water. Organic beef, venison, poultry, garlic, onions, parsley, organic plain yogurt, and
sauerkraut are also recommended.

Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® applied topically can soothe symptoms.

Herbs: Combine equal parts of burdock, sarsaparilla, and cleavers tinctures and take one teaspoon three times a day. Silymarin (milk thistle) is also helpful for psoriasis due to its positive effects on liver function.

Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include Psorinum, Sulfur, Graphites, Cuprum met., and
Arsen alb.

Hydrotherapy: Apply a hot compress affected area each day. Taking a ba.th heated to body temperature to which sea salt has been dissolved can also help speed healing.

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can be helpful: apple and carrot; beet, cucumber, and grape; and beet, carrot, burdock, yellowdock and garlic.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful: evening primrose oil, omega-3 essential fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin B Complex, vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, folic acid, lecithin, zinc, and a multimineral supplement. Taking hydrochloric acid (HCl) with each meal can also be of use.

In Europe fumaric acid tablets, ointment, lotion, and scalp lotions is widely used to reverse symptoms of psoriasis.

Lifestyle: Mild cases of psoriasis may be helped by daily exposure to sunlight. Frequent exercise is also recommended.

Topical Treatment: Apply seawater to the affected skin several times daily. Linseed or avocado oil, aloe vera gel, and/or capsaicin cream applied topically can reduce the scaling, thickness, redness, and itching.

Professional Care

If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treatingpsoriasis: Acupuncture, Ayurvedic Medicine, Chelation Therapy, Detoxification Therapy, Environmental Medicine, Light Therapy, Magnetic Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Orthomolecular Medicine, Oxygen Therapy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Book:

How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World by Harry Browne. At a time when our personal liberties are under siege on many fronts, this book is essential reading. I first read it years ago, and decided to revisit it last week. I’m glad I did. Browne’s common-sense recommendations are both practical and effective, and will be a boon to all who take responsibility for their lives by applying them. As Browne makes very clear, despite everything that is occurring in our world, it’s still very possible to achieve the freedoms and lifestyles we long for, but doing so is up to each of us individually.
