Special One Year Anniversary Issue and A Very Special Unabashed Plug!

I can hardly believe it, but this week both The Health Plus Letter and 1HealthyWorld.com are one year old! Since their inception, this newsletter has gained a readership of thousands of people from around the world (nearly 30 countries!) and tens of thousands of visitors come to 1HealthyWorld each month.

To celebrate the success we’ve enjoyed in our first year, I’ve once again reduced the  price of the entire Burton Goldberg eBook library by nearly 70%. Until the end of the month, you can purchase any of the titles in this library for only $9.95 each. Remember, these titles normally retail for $29.95 and considering the wealth of health information they contained, they are a bargain at that price. But for a limited time only, you can order as many of the titles as you like at two-thirds off. I urge you to take advantage of this special offer because it won’t be repeated.

To find out more about all of the titles that are available at this price, please visit
http://www.1healthyworld.com/ebooks. Order today and you can have the valuable information you are looking for moments later, stored directly on your computer. Not only will you be making a wise invest/ment in your health, you will also help keep the wealth of f/r/e/e information available to you each week in this newsletter coming to you without interruption.

Thank you for all of your support!

Q & A with Yours Truly

In light of The Health Plus Letter’s first anniversary, I’ve decided to devote this issue entirely to answering ques/tions I’ve received from readers over the last few weeks. I hope you enjoy my answers.

Lorraine A. writes:

“Larry- the newsletter helps me to focus on the right things and I thank you for that. I need all the reminders this time of year. Do you get off times, too, or are you so learned and disciplined that you tow the mark all the time?  Just curious.”

Hi, Lorraine - I'm hardly as disciplined as one might assume, except in one area - I'm convinced that the most important element of health is the regular experience of joy and connecting with Spirit (however one defines It), and I usually do a good job of both one way or another. My approach to doing so is idiosyncratic, based as it is on my personal inclinations and human foibles, yet a large portion comes simply from my good fortune in having the friends and family I have. I’m blessed with 15 wonderful nieces and nephews, and spending time among them keeps me connected to the “kid inside me” (sometimes to the consternation of too serious adults, but I maintain that one should ne/ver apologize for being happy).

Given that I write about health for a living, I am often asked what I do personally to stay healthy. Here’s what works for me, but please note that it is not intended as medical advice. I’m not a doctor. (I’m not even a college graduate. I dropped out of college when I should still have been in high school because formal education as it predominantly exists in this country is something I found stifling from the moment I was first exposed to it. I always had excellent grades, but was also usually bored, except in the classes taught by the handful of gifted teachers I had. Mostly, however, my education has always been self-directed and continues to be to this day. It’s more fun that way, at least for me, and I’m a firm believer in sticking with what works.)

OK, here’s my health routine, such as it is:

Diet:I avoid all junk food, have recently eliminated wheat from my diet, and aside from cheese or yogurt on occasion, don’t eat dairy either. But I’m no health food purist (although I try to eat organic whenever possible). I enjoy eating and the socializing that can comes with it. I also drink lots of purified water throughout the day, and enjoy a cup of he/rbal tea from time to time, as well. On very rare occasions, I may even have a glass of wine, sometime my colleague June Russell might give me hell for, and with good reason. (If you haven’t visited June’s website yet, please make a point of doing so. It’s available at www.jrussellshealth.com and is an excellent resource.)

Nutritional Supplements: Having the job I do, I am sent supplements on a regular basis, but I usually don’t use them. But I do take vitamin C regularly in doses far above the RDA, and have done so ever since a conversation I had with the late Linus Pauling, who convinced me of the importance of doing so simply by stating some of the research he had on hand the day I spoke with him. I use Beyond C, developed by my friend Dr. Garry Gordon, because of how easy it is on my system. (For more information on Garry’s products, visit www.1healthyworld.com/healthproducts/garrygordon
.)
Lately, I’ve also been taking a complete essential fatty acid supplement, and find that makes a difference too.

Exercise: I spend most of my days sitting on my behind staring at a computer, so exercising for me can make a big difference in how I feel. Even so, until recently I neglected exercising for a long time, beset as I was with deadlines, etc., not to mention the fact that I am inherently lazy. But in the last few weeks I’ve rededicated myself to exercising each and every day and the benefits were obvious from the very first day. I have far more energy, am feeling more creative and happy, and have dissipated a lot of muscular tension that was stored in my body.

I said I was lazy, and I am in this regard, so my exercise routine does not last long. At its heart is ten minutes or more of bouncing up and down on a rebounder (min-trampoline). If you haven’t tried this yet, I heartily encourage you to do so, and will be writing about the many benefits of rebounding exercise in the near future. When I’m finished, I do a few reps of wei/ght lifting, using f/r/e/e weights, followed by stomach crunches and leg lifts. Then I end my routine by spinning like a dervish for a few minutes. I have no idea is this last effort has any actual physiological benefits, but I love doing it anyway. Total time each day: 20 minutes or so.

I also try to work in a walk of a few miles every few weeks or so, especially when I feel a need to clear my head. For me, walking has always had a lot of nonphysical benefits.

Napping: Whenever I feel like it, I will often take a late afternoon nap. Sometimes this is a daily occurrence (as it was when I wasn’t exercising), other times I go weeks without a nap. But I enjoy my naps when I take them, primarily for the dreams and intuitions I receive while my body slumbers.

Holistic Therapies: I am fortunate to know many experts in a wide range of therapeutic approaches to health, but I rarely make use of their services, aside from getting a few chiropractic adjustments each year, ideally from my friend Dr. Michael Stern, who was featured in the chiropractic chapter in my book, The American Holistic Medical Association Guide to Holistic Health (available from any bookstore, and  amazon.com). Mike is the developer of an exciting approach to chiropractic called Total Tension Release, and will soon be teaching it to chiropractors nationwide (and most likely beyond the U.S. too, before long).

Other Things:What follows falls entirely under the category of personal idiosyncrasies, yet I include it simply because it too increases my joy and energy. I enjoy talking to myself, dancing like a lunatic by myself to music you won’t hear on the radio, taking long baths (during which time I usually get at least one great brainstorm), writing poetry, juggling (I’m pretty good with 3 objects), teasing people I love, and reading, reading, reading books of every shape and size, fiction and nonfiction (and also lots of comic books – they’re not just for kids anymore). In short, I try to have fun as much as possible as often as possible, and have become an expert in knowing how to entertain myself whenever necessary.

So there you have it – a bit more information about the guy who writes and sends you The Health Plus Letter each week. (I should add, that following my personal reply to Lorraine, she sent me a very funny email that I cannot reproduce h/e/r/e for reasons she doubtless understands. For that, I thank her.)

Jeanne P. writes:

“Hello Larry,

Since you are actively working to bring honesty back to the medical profession, you must read the article titled 'Cancer: the truth about survival rates' in the July - August issue of NEXUS magazine.  It should be required reading for every cancer patient and/or care- giver on the planet.  I haven't finished the article, but find it fascinating.  It gives credence to my firm belief that 'the cure' exists, but will ne/ver be allowed to surface as long as the greedy are in power.”

Thanks for the tip, Jeanne.

There are a number of truly viable treatments for cancer that have not been allowed to flourish as they should, solely due to greed and the desire to have power over others. This all dates back to the early 20th century. It's a sordid tale, and one I'm very much aware of, but the public at large is still very much ignorant of it (I sometimes think they'd rather not know).

Based on my own research into cancer, I am convinced that it is not truly a disease per se, but rather a malfunction in the body caused by its attempts to re-regulate imbalances caused by a combination of poor diet, nutritional and enzyme deficiencies, buildup of toxins, unresolved emotional trauma, limiting and fallacious beliefs and attitudes, and a lack of personal vitality in one's bio-energy field. Of these, it's the mental/emotional component that is so often neglected, even by astute holistic healers. Moreover, oftentimes patients don't wish to change their "inner worlds," some to the point where, unconsciously or consciously, they would much rather "die." (None of us ever really dies we just discard the physical body.)

I definitely look forward to reading the new information in the article and will let you know once I find it. Thanks again for alerting me to it.

Clara J. writes:

"Larry,

"Thank you for sharing all the information in your online newsletter with those willing to open their minds and hearts to a truly healthful way of living. You may have critics, as mentioned in your most recent newsletter, but that only means that you are truly making a difference.  Your most ardent critics are those who are fearful.  They are fearful of change, they are fearful of anything new to them, and they are fearful of anyone who reveals anything which they do not agree or cannot understand.  They attack out of fear.

"I, for one, embrace your philosophy and your research.  It is much appreciated, and I support your magnificent efforts.  May you continue to enlighten and be enlightened.  May the highest possible good be yours... "

Hi, Clara - Thank you so much for your words of support and encouragement. "Fear is the mindkiller," as Frank Herbert wrote in his novel Dune, and I've said since childhood that fear is the cause of all the world's ills, so I find myself pitying the so-called powers-that-be even as I wage my campaign to inform/alert others about their machinations. You can bet they are lacking in Joy, if they feel so compelled to create and maintain their monopolies around the globe.

Cosette T writes:

"Larry - Dr. Hoffer's information was incredibly educational. I am constantly passing on what I've learned from you to others who've been diagnosed with cancer. I just cannot thank you enough for the tremendous blessings your efforts are to so many people. I'll just state it simply....the 'works' you are producing are storing up treasures in Heaven.”

Talk about ending on a high note! Seriously, the thanks and gratitude I receive from Cosette and the rest of my readers are the primary motivations I use to keep producing The Health Plus Letter each week. I began both it and 1HealthyWorld out of a desire to empower others with the same life-saving information I’ve been so fortunate to have received in my own life. The fact that my efforts resonate and help so many of you all across the globe makes it all worthwhile. Especially from people like Cosette, who are dealing so heroically with serious health issues and taking responsibility for their healing. I’m honored, humbled, and grateful to be able to do what I do, knowing that it’s appreciated.

My hearty thanks to everyone who wrote to me in the last year, and to all the rest of you who continue to subscribe to and read The Health Plus Letter. The best is yet to come and you have my promise that I will continue to do my very best to be of service to you. Let me know how I’m doing and what you’d like from me next.

That’s all for this week.I’ll return next week with my regular slate of feature articles, the latest health news and commentary, and more reader feedback. Thanks again for supporting our first year in operation. Like I said, the coming year is going to be even better. Stay tuned…

Health and Blessings!
