Jesse Hanley, M.D.
Dr. Jesse Hanley is a noted clinician and author, who has helped thousands of women discover natural healthcare alternatives during various phases of their lives. Today she is devoting her time to educating practitioners and the public in an effort to assist them in reexamining medical information and to better understand and be empowered by their health care options.
At the age of 32, inspired by her own recovery from chronic illness with natural methods, Dr. Hanley graduated from medical school at the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Simultaneously she studied Oriental Medicine and acupuncture at UCLA Medical School, integrating both models along the way with her in-depth nutritional and herbal knowledge.
Dr. Hanley recently retired as Medical Director of Malibu Health and Rehabilitation Center where she was in private practice for the majority of her twenty years in practice.
Dr. Hanley is also the author of two acclaimed health books. What Your Doctor May Not Tell About Premenopause (Warner Books January 1999), which she co-authored with John R. Lee, M.D., has over 600,000 copies in print. Her second book, Tired of Being Tired, was published by Putnam in April, 2001.
While completing a 23-city book tour and numerous multimedia interviews in support of Tired of Being Tired, Dr. Hanley was the featured speaker for the grand rounds opening of the Institute for Functional Medicine’s (IFM) Conference in Vancouver, where she addressed over 500 physicians. A popular lecturer, she has spoken to 2,000 women at the California Governor’s Conference for Women and was a featured speaker at the Texas Governor’s Conference for Women in 2001 and 2002.
Dr. Hanley has gained national recognition for her outstanding contributions to the advancement of holistic medicine. She has a national reputation as a medical expert, giving regular radio and television interviews. She also teaches numerous courses, lectures to physicians, and is a sought after speaker in public forums on a wide variety of health subjects, such as nutrition, burnout and beyond, women’s health (from PMS to menopause), anti-aging, longevity, and how to love your Self to health.
